ViewCrew is here to answer some of the most common questions we get from clients!
How often should my windows be washed professionally?
We suggest that your windows be cleaned by a company twice per year. This will ensure that there is not too much buildup of dirt, grime, and past rainwater on your windows. If these are allowed to build up for too long, damage to the functionality of your windows and your view can happen. The best times to have them done are right after pollen season (middle of June), and then again in the fall.
But if anything, at least get them washed once a year, your windows will thank you!
What do you use to clean the windows?
The best way to clean a window, and the way we do it here at ViewCrew, is by hand. The old fashioned sponge and squeegee will give you the best quality clean on your windows. We mix a small amount of professional window cleaning solution with warm water into our buckets, and apply it to the window using the backside of a sponge or our window mops. Then all the solution, dirt, streaks, and everything else is squeegee away leaving you with crystal clear glass.
Cleaning by hand also allows for our employees to be close to the window and see any streaks or dirt that may have been left behind. This is important as you would not be able to see these using a water fed or extension pole.
How long will my windows stay clean?
This question can be tricky because it truly depends on the location of your home, the weather, and the surroundings. However, on average your windows should look noticeably clean for about 2-3 months.
Always make sure that if you have construction or other plans for your property that window cleaning comes last. Anything that kicks up dirt, dust, paint, etc., will make your windows dirty much faster.
Can you clean windows in the rain?
Yes, you can most definitely clean windows in the rain. This is a myth due to improper cleaning techniques. Dirt makes your windows dirty, not rain. The reason many times your windows may be dirty after the rain is because your window cleaner does not clean the frame of the window first, allowing loosened dirt from the frames to fall onto your glass.
Is there any preparation I need to do before window cleaning?
Here at ViewCrew, we do not require much preparation on your end. The only thing we ask is that your window air conditioning units be removed prior to our arrival. But you do not need to remove screens or move any furniture for our crew members, they can handle that! If you have a screen cleaning job scheduled, removing screens will definitely help speed up the job for our cleaners!
